Founded in 2005, Dog Years is here to serve all of your dog training and boarding needs. Situated on 5 acres in beautiful Botetourt County, we are able to provide you with the class accommodations and professional training that you and your dog deserve.

Our boarding kennel is located right next to our house, so your dog will be under our care 24 hours per day.

Owner and founder, Kirk McConnor, has been involved with dogs since childhood. More recently, he has been training dogs for obedience and performance nearly every day since 1995. He is serving his second term as Breed Warden of the North American Deutsch Kurzhaar club or NADKC. Kirk and Barbara McConnor raise and train Deutsch Kurzhaars, training, testing them, and breeding them according to the strict breeding regulations of the Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband.

A graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Natural Resources, Kirk had a successful career in the Pharmaceutical, Metallurgical, and Soft Drink industries before following his true passion of training and caring for dogs.

Dog Years is a member of the American Boarding Kennel Association, or ABKA, and as such, conforms to the highest professional standards of pet care.
