Cleveland County's finest facility for NC Dog Training and Dog Boarding is located on 29 beautiful acres in Shelby, North Carolina, close to both HWY 74 and I-85. Dog Years is approved and licensed by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.

Kirk McConnor, owner and Dog Trainer, has been training dogs for performance and obedience every day since 1995. He turned professional in 2005, when he opened Dog Years in Virginia. Since that time, he has trained dogs of many breeds and varieties for various purposes, and earned a nationwide reputation as an excellent trainer of personal hunting dogs, and served as a behavioral training resource for Vet Clinics and Shelters in Virginia. He is now serving the local community as the trainer for the Cleveland County Humane Society.

Kirk is a graduate of The Ohio State University, and served as Breed Warden of the North American Deutsch Kurzhaar Club for nine years. He is also a Pro Staff Trainer for D.T. Systems, manufacturer of high quality dog training equipment.

Dog Years Training and Boarding Center offers a wide variety of training services and boarding, all with a personal touch that can only be provided by a small, privately owned facility. The kennel is located right next to our house, and dogs are under our supervision 24/7. When you have your dog trained or boarded at Dog Years, you can rest assured that your dog is receiving the best of care and getting individual attention directly from the business owner.
